    The Community Receiver Program works with real estate professionals of color to rehabilitate vacant and foreclosed properties. These properties are then resold to local homebuyers — to preserve generational wealth — or rented out at affordable rates. The program trains people to be community receivers for free, teaching them how to acquire and rehabilitate the buildings, as well as how to leverage grants and local funding programs. Since 2020, the Program has trained about 520 people, rehabilitated 16 buildings and contributed about $4.5 million in restored property value.

  • Los Angeles is using AI to predict who might become homeless and help before they do

In over two years, the program has helped 560 people secure housing and avoid homelessness and a large majority of them have managed to maintain that housing.

    A program that came about during the COVID-19 pandemic requires tenants to be granted an opportunity for mediation with their landlord if they owe less than $3,000 in back rent before the landlord issues an eviction notice. This program provides tenants with an opportunity to stay in their homes and has helped more than 4,000 people since starting in late 2020.
